During a reception at Trump Tower in New York on Friday, just two days before the World Cup final featuring Argentina and Spain, FIFA President Gianni Infantino delivered a bold statement, asserting the tournament’s unparalleled significance. “This is not only the greatest World Cup ever; it represents the most remarkable human, social, and cultural event humanity has ever experienced. We are all part of this transformative occasion,” Infantino expressed, extending his gratitude to President Trump for hosting the gathering.
The event brought together FIFA Council members, national football association representatives, former players, and various dignitaries. Infantino lauded the U.S. and President Trump for their contributions to what became the largest World Cup in history, as confirmed by FIFA. Prior to the final matches, total attendance reached 6,665,825, exceeding the combined figures from the 2018 and 2022 tournaments, with an impressive average of 65,351 spectators per match and a claimed stadium occupancy rate of 99.7 percent.
Looking ahead, Infantino highlighted the upcoming final matches: Saturday’s third-place contest between England and France in Miami, followed by the championship showdown between Argentina and Spain in New Jersey. “There’s just one game left—well, two: the bronze medal match tomorrow and the great finale between Argentina and Spain,” he noted.
