Recent revelations about the car crash involving Kyle Shanahan on July 14 have sparked new inquiries into the incident’s management. Palo Alto police have confirmed that the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers was at fault for the crash; however, they opted not to issue any citation.

On Tuesday, Shanahan recounted to reporters how he accidentally dropped his iPhone between the driver’s seat and the center console of his Tesla. While attempting to retrieve the phone, he momentarily diverted his attention from the road, veering into oncoming traffic and colliding with a vehicle operated by a 21-year-old woman, who fortunately did not sustain serious injuries.
‘I looked down to find it and took my eyes off the road for just two seconds,’ Shanahan stated. ‘As I was coming back up, the airbags deployed and hit me in the face, breaking my nose, and I was also cut by the visor.’
Neither the 49ers organization nor the Palo Alto Police Department has released an official statement regarding the incident and have expressed that they will not disclose any further details publicly.
