Jessica Bang, 18-year-old rookie professional golfer from Australia, passed away in a hospital in Thailand on Thursday, as per the WPGA Tour of Australasia.
The fundraiser successfully gathered almost 35,000 Australian dollars, receiving support from various members of the golf community. However, her family has not publicly revealed the cause of the bleeding, and no further underlying diagnosis has been provided. Following her demise, the WPGA Tour of Australasia issued a statement, saying: “(The) Australian golf community is deeply saddened by the passing of young tour member Jessica Bang in Thailand. The medical cause leading to Bang’s death was identified as a brain hemorrhage and its complications. Bang’s cousins set up an online fundraising campaign following her emergency surgery, with the initial aim of alleviating the increasing medical costs and ultimately facilitating her return to Australia , where she could pursue further treatment in the company of her family. Bang had secured chances on the WPGA and KLPGA circuits and journeyed to Bangkok in pursuit of the next phase in her burgeoning career. The Australian golf community is now grieving not only the player she had become but also all that she never had the opportunity to demonstrate.
Bang family also confirmed that she passed away on Thursday morning in Bangkok.
