Amstelveen , Gearing up for what is possibly his last campaign in a hockey World Cup, veteran Indian mid-fielder Manpreet Singh says he is determined to make it a memorable one by playing his part in taking India to the title for the first time in 51 years.
Manpreet Singh Emphasizes Importance of World Cup
Two-time Olympic medallist Manpreet Singh, participating in his fourth World Cup, highlighted the tournament’s significance for India as they aim to secure their second title since their sole victory in 1975.
“This World Cup means a lot to me because it’s my fourth edition. We have won back-to-back Olympic medals, but a World Cup medal is still missing. Every player dreams of having both,” Manpreet stated during an interview with JioStar.
He expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities, citing their experience and talent. “We have prepared well, and the belief is high. We have won Olympic medals, and now it’s time to go all the way in the World Cup,” he added.
The team is playing with great belief and giving 100 per cent in every single training session,” he added.
The former captain said India cannot afford to underestimate any opponent and have worked on both fitness and defence ahead of the tournament.
