Just a month after his return to the United States, Browning earned the national title as a member of the Virginia State team. He expressed gratitude to the academy, which he credits with crucial support in enhancing his competitive skills and maintaining his focus.
“I have been competing as a shooter in the US since 2012, and I wanted to keep pursuing my passion while living in India. Upon arriving in Delhi in the summer of 2023, Shimon Sharif and the coaches at Topgun Shooting Academy welcomed me to train in the 10m air rifle discipline.
“After returning to the United States last month, I claimed victory at the U.S. National Championship just weeks later. I am incredibly thankful to the academy for their training and support throughout my stay in India. This experience was vital in enabling me to compete at such a high level,” said Browning.
For his outstanding championship performance, Browning received the esteemed Leatherneck Trophy, one of the prestigious awards given during the National Matches at Camp Perry.
The academy’s influence on the US shooting community extends well beyond Browning’s achievements. During the Covid-19 pandemic, when international travel and competitions were suspended, the academy became a global center for elite shooters by hosting virtual competitions that kept athletes prepared and engaged during lockdowns.
These online events attracted participants worldwide, including several members of the US Olympic shooting team as they readied themselves for the delayed Tokyo Olympics. Notably, American shooter William Shaner competed and later won the Olympic gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
