Meanwhile, Mahindra Racing has emerged as a noteworthy success story this season. Currently sitting fourth in the teams’ championship, the Indian team has experienced a significant turnaround, marked by race victories and consistent front-row starts at the 2km indoor-outdoor circuit. This resurgence adds an exciting dynamic to the championship landscape as teams prepare for the next events.
Leading Mahindra’s charge is Edoardo Mortara, who sits fifth in the drivers’ standings on 116 points. Reflecting on the team’s trajectory prior to the finale, Mortara highlighted the significant progress made over the past year. “It’s been a positive season. Probably the best that we’ve had over these last three years. Showing that as a package, as a group, we’ve been improving year after year. “For me personally, the last five races have been extremely frustrating. Some things are unfortunately a little bit out of our hands. With slightly more luck, we would have been there to fight for the championship,” Mortara added. “In the end, the problem is that in this championship, it’s not really rewarding the pace in qualifying. When you start at the front, then probably you’re stuck with some choices regarding strategies that are making it sometimes tougher.”
We’ve had probably the best performances this year with pole positions and podiums,” Mortara told HT on Friday.
