Glasgow restaurant deletes Instagram account after Lovlina Borgohain flags incorrect

A restaurant in Glasgow is under scrutiny after Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain raised concerns about an inaccurate map displayed at their venue. Following her silver medal win at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Lovlina highlighted the error in a viral video. In response, the establishment, Mister Singh’s India, announced they would be modifying their logo. Shortly after sharing this statement, however, the restaurant deleted its Instagram account.

Event Context

Following India’s remarkable achievement of securing 10 boxing medals at the competition, the boxing team enjoyed a celebratory dinner at Mister Singh’s India, renowned as the Home of Curry in Glasgow. After the event, Lovlina pointed out an error in the restaurant’s representation of India’s map.

In response, the restaurant issued a clarification stating, “At Mr Singh’s India, we take immense pride in our Indian heritage and have proudly served customers for nearly 32 years. We apologize for the incorrect depiction of India on our map and will take swift action to rectify this mistake. We sincerely regret any offense caused; our intention was simply to celebrate with the Indian contingent in pride.”

Reflecting on India’s performance, the boxing team returned from CWG 2025 with an impressive tally of 10 medals, including seven gold and three silver. Lovlina herself earned a silver medal after a hard-fought final bout.

Team Analysis

We will replace the logo with an accurate map. It was an honor and a privilege to serve Team India following their remarkable achievements at the Commonwealth Games. The athletes and guests had a wonderful evening, and these unforgettable memories will stay with us as we celebrate India. This sentiment was shared by Team Mr Singh India.

In a video that gained widespread attention on social media, Lovlina expressed her disappointment regarding the incorrect map and called on the authorities to address the issue.

“I hope this message is not misunderstood. I felt somewhat hurt by this situation. The map of India displayed was missing the North East. Even in external contexts, the representation has excluded the North East, which is disheartening for us. That’s what I wanted to convey. Please consider this in the future. Thank you very much,” Lovlina stated.

Ajay Singh, president of the Boxing Federation of India, also addressed the matter, clarifying that there was no confrontation with the restaurant owners. “We did not engage in any confrontation. It was a mistake, and both Lovlina and I brought it to their attention. They acknowledged the error and promised to rectify it,” Singh informed PTI.

Match Outlook

In a video posted by Lovlina, she is seen showcasing a restaurant napkin featuring the establishment’s logo, which illustrates a map of India but excludes the North-Eastern region of the country.
