Event Context

India, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Singh, is set to compete against the Netherlands and Germany in a series of matches leading up to the World Cup and the Asian Games, which also serves as a qualifying event for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

The World Cup is scheduled to be co-hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium from August 15 to 30. Meanwhile, the Asian Games will take place in Japan between September 19 and October 4.

India will kick off its campaign against the Netherlands on Sunday, followed by consecutive matches against Germany on June 17 and June 18. The series will wrap up with a second face-off against the Netherlands on June 21.

“This Pro League segment is vital for our World Cup preparation. Competing against high-ranking teams in the Netherlands and England provides the essential challenges we need at this stage. These matches allow us to explore various combinations,” stated head coach Craig Fulton prior to the match.

“Our strategy is straightforward: maintain strong pressing, be effective on the counterattack, and ensure consistency throughout all four matches. We are clear about our goals for the World Cup, and these games will help assess our current position,” he added.

The Indian team aims to leverage the unique atmosphere and conditions in the Netherlands, which will also host World Cup events.

“Competing in the Netherlands and against the home team is an exceptional opportunity. With a full stadium, the atmosphere is always electric. These conditions are ideal for our preparations for the tournament,” Fulton remarked.
